Why do children learn a second language better than adults

Introduction

International relations have become so frequent now, almost everyone wants to become successful international students, and the results are often unsatisfactory. Therefore, many students regret that they started to learn a second language too late, if they start training as a child, and, of course, will master a foreign language successfully. This is because children have more advantages than in adults. They can learn faster than adults, and the level of foreign language may be close to their mother tongue level in the long run.

Firstly, there are several reasons that young students can handle second languages more quickly. It can be clearly seen that the second strike language increasing age, generally accepted explanation is the "critical period"(Hanrong 17). In other words, the whole learning process will be delighted.

Secondly, there are several reasons that children can reach their own language level, when they learn a foreign language. Firstly, when discussing the social factors of psychology, as compared to children, adults tend to inhibit the use of their second language (Schleppegrell 56). In other words, they always want to practice the language learned. As a result, they are difficult to reach their native language pronunciation and language skills. Moreover, from the cognitive point of view, adults have highly developed cognitive systems, and they are willing to learn the language rules deliberately.

However, the process of cognition is no doubt different from those of children. This led to a completely different process of language acquisition. This distinction, will lead them to achieve different, that children can be easier to achieve in their own language level, when they learn a second language (McLaughlin 56). First, the process of language acquisition of adults can be seen that the majority of adult learners use the same method for learning a foreign language, which can be described as a memory.
