To organize a group of individuals for achieving a mutual goal or objective is known as leadership. Any formal or official authority may or may not be possessed by a leader. But not every individual is leader; as some become comfortable being a follower and some are born to lead the world. This is also a fact that leaders are not just born, but they are made. Individual may learn to become effective leaders (Wergin, 2007). A good and effective leader is known by his some definite characteristics which distinguish him/her as great leaders as his/her effectiveness is depicted from every aspect of his/her work. A leader is one who is confidently and proudly followed by followers and each and every follower can completely trust them on the basis of their skills. He is the person who is responsible for guiding and directing others. Even in management of businesses, the managers are essentially required who are also considered as the leaders as all their associates are bound to follow the manager, and without the support or guidance of manager, they are unable to perform their work related tasks competently and appropriately. Wherever, there is a need to achieve a common goal with the aid and support if an official authority then that conception comes under the terminology of leadership.
