Why are people attending college?

When people decide whether or not to go to college, many components affect their decision. Family can play a major role in this decision. In most families, there is an older sibling and a younger sibling. When the older sibling in the family goes off to college, that affects everyone in the family, especially the younger sibling. If the older sibling wants something, then later, the younger sibling is going to want the same exact thing too. That is seen in probably every family. Siblings have a connection very different than they have with their parents.

In my family, I have an older sister named Robyn. She is three years older than I am. When she was a senior in high school and was applying to colleges, it had me thinking about where I want to go and what I might want to do. Then when she got into different colleges, she had to pick which college she actually would be going to and that had me thinking even more. She finally decided to go to Florida State University. After she said that she was going there, I told myself that that is the school that I really want to go as well. Then the day before she left to drive up to school with my parents, she started to cry because she was about to leave all of her family at home. She was going to miss our dog, our grandparents, our parents, and me. That night we went out to eat with all of our grandparents and our uncles. She knew that this dinner would be her last dinner at home until she came back for break so she felt extremely sad. Our grandparents gave her cards and money and nothing to me. At that time, I was a little bit mad because I did not get anything but I later realized that in three years I would be getting those cards and that money too. The next day my parents and my sister drove up to FSU but I could not go because I had to work at camp.

When my sister officially started school, I knew that she got there because she worked extremely hard in high school. From that, I knew that I hard to work a lot harder in school by raising up my grades and just trying a lot ...
