Who Would Be Involved With A Team When Developing A Plan For A Student With Exceptionality?
Introduction
Special education is the education of children with special needs to address the individual students' differences and requirements. This involves the planned and systematic arrangements of teaching, special materials, special settings, and other strategies to help students with exceptionalities achieve success in school and in community, which would be difficult to attain if they would be given only a typical classroom education (Hallahan, Kauffman, & Pullen, 2008).
They have issues like difficulties with learning, difficulties in communication, physical disabilities, emotional and disorders, and many other developmental disorders. These exceptional students benefit from educational services such as use of technology, special teaching, etc. The children with intellectual giftedness can also get benefits from special teaching programs, they need to be handled separately (Sandall, Schwartz, Joseph, Horn & Odom, 2008).
For special education, many services are available in every school, which can improve the academic achievement of students. Children, who are regarded as students with exceptionalities are children having mental retardation, brain damage, developmental disorder, visual or hearing disabilities, etc (Catlett, Winton, & Pierce, 2007 ).
The team that are involved in educating the students with exceptionalities are:
Family members
Community members
Teacher education faculty members and students
Policymakers
Funding agencies

Family Involvement
In supporting these students, family members and guardians play an important role in helping children to learn, whether at home or at school. The parents are responsible to provide care and to feed them. The grandparents are also involved. All parents have specific hopes and goals for their kids. They support the efforts of children's to gain desired goals. The environment of the home influences a child. They are the central contributor to the development of the child. Parent involvement is the essential element of the child's education. The process of parent involvement requires ongoing efforts. It requires a specific vision, policy, and the framework. The understanding of their role is important. Parents' interaction with children is important to recognize the issues of this relation. Successful parent involvement strengthens bonds between family, school, educator, parent and community (Carter, 2003).
