ABSTRACT

The relationship between the expected return and risk has been a central research area in finance. It has been widely recognized that risky investment yields higher expected return than investment free of risk. This dissertation had studied the factors that can make an affect on the risk and return analysis of an investor. According to Markowitz portfolio theory, an investor would always require the maximum amount of risk at a given level of risk and for this purpose; he proposed a model that allowed investor to yield maximum return in his portfolio through investment in diverse assets. The findings from the review of literature had helped us discover the factors that could affect the risk and return decision of an investor. Through our research through questionnaire analysis, we were able to validate out findings from the review of literature. These factors consist of both firm specific factors and economic factors.
