The question why it is necessary to petition God if He already knows what we want has different answers in different contexts. According to the perceptions of some people, it is useless to petition God in prayer because He already knows what we want. He always provides us with alternatives that are appropriate for them. According to these people, petitions cannot possibly change the will of God.
