Question 1: In the Hillsdale Savings Bank, a Menorah and a Christmas tree are displayed. Maria McDougal, a teller, brings a small nativity scene for display. The bank manager refuses to display it for fear of offending non-Christians. After Maria writes to the bank headquarters, she is terminated. How would you advise her to proceed?

Maria should claim her termination under the law of religious discrimination in the Civil Rights Act. Each and every employee will be treated fairly according to law of discrimination (Morgan, 2011). The religion and race of a person should not become hindrance when one works in an organization. This act that is performed by the organization in this case is direct discrimination, and it is dismissing Maria from work due to unfair treatment. The direct religious discrimination occurred under the Equality Act 2010 (Citizen Advice, 2013).

Maria can take action in the civil court under the equality act, and it is unlawful to terminate an employee on religious discrimination. She can submit the case in the civil court for the inequality religious discrimination, and she can claim her termination regarding this issue (Morgan, 2011). This is an unlawful act, and she will receive justice from the civil court on the religious discrimination that was occurred with her in an organization. She should take this action as no other organization should terminate an employee on this basis (Citizen Advice, 2013).

Question 2: At Prestige Motors, Muslim employees request to pray on their personal rugs on the factory floor during breaks. Prestige states this is disruptive to the work environment. Instead, Prestige assigns them space in the cafeteria. Co-workers complain that the Muslims enunciation of their prayers is disrupting their co-workers' ability to converse during lunch. How would you advise Prestige to proceed?

Prestige should be aware of the religious discrimination for an employer can be claimed under the Civil Right Act of 1964. This act caters the employee's relationship in the organization (Morgan, 2011). Employee has right to practice their religion freely in an organization. They should inform the organization that each and every religion has right for prayers and this is not a sin. They should be given freedom for practicing their religion (Legal Information Institute, 2013).

The organizations should not discriminate the employees against the religion, race and sex. They should provide freedom for practicing their religion, and they can claim the organization against the US laws (Morgan, 2011). Recently in America Muslim community is treated unfairly in the organizations. The employer should focus on acting under the Civil Rights Law as practicing religion in an organization is not an unusual practice. Prestige should communicate with the employer against complain and solve the issue if the issue is still unresolved than civil court would be a better option as to fight against their religious discrimination right (American Civil Liberties Union, 2013).
