For every program to be successful the goal should be defined and in order to reach this goal, the first thing an organization needs to do is to determine its current standing and its needs. Similarly in the healthcare industry, not-for-profit organizations need to clearly identify its requirements because without knowing the needs, it will not be able to work efficiently in order to achieve its goals. Tools such as SPACE (Strategic Position and Action Evaluation Matrix) and portfolio analysis are good way of assessing the needs of an organization.
