Warehousing Operations

Introduction

In warehouses and distribution centers running a very serious set of successively grouped into various operations associated with the receipt, storage and release of goods to customers. All of these operations in the aggregate represent a technological process of storage. The content and structure of the technological process determined by the type of warehouse (distribution center), physio-chemical properties of stored products out there, the volume of freight traffic and other factors (Brandimarte & Zotteri, 2007, pp. 171).

At the warehouse the goods may come in different types of transport. If a stock has railway sidings, goods can be delivered in containers or wagons. Much of the goods (goods, products) are delivered to warehouses and distribution centers by road - these are the trends of today's trading business. Such warehouses perform operations that are associated with the receipt of goods, consisting of unloading of vehicles, movement of goods in the sector of their receipt, unpacking (if necessary) and the acceptance of their quality and quantity of senior representatives of the wholesaler or warehouse or distribution center. Accepted items are then moved to the storage sector, where they are placed in stacks or placed on shelves. Depending on the goods, inherent physical and chemical properties are defined for their regulated storage conditions. After you follow the operations that are associated with the release of goods to clients, customers, such as:

- Picking the goods arrived at the warehouse;

- Moving them to the site of assembly of customer orders;

- Direct equipment orders received;

- Preparation of goods (goods production) to leave (palletizing or in containers, packing, repacking, etc);

- Forwarding the work of sending the goods to customers, customers (development and formation of the route, organizing and implementing loading transportation, centralized delivery of goods ordered);

- Delivery of goods delivered to recipients (clients, customers).

In general the process of commodity circulation is significantly affected by the actual speed of execution of the warehouse process. This rate of speed depends on the functions and tasks that are performed in the warehouse (wholesale basis), delivery to the consumers, and the level of mechanization of warehouse operations and carrying out of work. Technology operations in a warehouse in a major extent are determined by the characteristics of devices available to the wholesaler's warehouse, their size, the specifics of the internal layout of buildings warehouses and storage facilities, equipping them with technological equipment for the storage of different product groups (products, goods) (Howie, 2008, pp. 56).

In stock received in quality and quantity of products packed in containers, stacked them and carry out the movement in the sector of storage.
