Discussion

Importance of war on drugs

Why should not a person be given the opportunity to make whatever decision he desires? Why must an individual be not allowed to consume as he/she desires? There is not much difference in the standard relating to the utilization of consumer goods such as alcohol, cocaine, heroin and tobacco. There are a lot of entities that would dispute the very rule laid by us regarding the consumption of such products, claiming it to be their freedom right to act as per their will ignorant of the consequences of their excessive usage. They may ask as to why not this should be at their disposal to decide.

People supporting the “Drug War” law frequently claims that drug user not only harm him yet defy the privacy of others which includes his friends and family members as they would be the victims of passive usage/smoking which would eventually violate their rights to freedom.

The debate, nevertheless, mirrors a mournful lacking of apprehending of the rights of freedom. Every time an individual takes a decision involving high risk can result in severe punishment for the members of the family. Let it be a decision regarding a heavy investment in stocks or going on a hiking trip through a steep valley, Therefore, the matter of concern is not regarding the selection of an individual, negatively affecting the others; rather the subject is whether one makes a peaceful choice or not, meaning a decision that is not forcefully imposed on to others, given the choice is a peaceful one the society will happily welcome it regardless of its outcome that might adversely influence them.
