In making money, just because of the success of a corporate structure, do not need to set the conditions of human ahead, nor does all the advancements in the science by design make the lives of humans more significant (Wald, pp. 45). These dialogues were uttered in a lecture given in 1976 by a Harvard professor and Nobel Prize winning biologist, George Wald, on the Dangers of Genetic Engineering.
Incredible inventions, according to this quotation, like the genetic engineering are not forever advantageous and positive to the society and people. The genetic engineering is changing the genetic substances of the organisms and/or cell in order to make them competent of creating new materials or executing new purposes. Of the 20th century, it is also one of the top contentious matters. To provide and offer genetically produced or constructed inventions, many people believe that continuously in this globe is ethical and moral. This means that these genetic interventions are to be traditional or conventional to the moral and ethical standards and principles of a human (Wald, 1976).
Many other people disagree that such kind of interventions like the clones of humans that are construction of humans genetically and various other figures that are genetically produced are incorrect, immoral and should be prohibited. The devastating and overpowering evidences of texts verify that the genetic engineering is not advantageous and valuable to the society and people. Consequently, the genetic engineering is immoral and unethical, and as a result it should be impeded.
Discussion
The author has indirectly described about the biotechnology in terms of the genetic engineering. The views of the author are not in the favor of the genetic engineering and have described many of its disadvantages and consequences. One of the primary reasons that why the genetic engineering should be stopped it that the moral and ethical values of the society are disrupted.
In addition, the genetic engineering causes the society and people to perform action in destructive and disparaging methods. In 1997, Time Magazine performed an online survey and found that eleven percent (11%) of the people who were interviewed considers that if the human clones are produced in the near future then the genetically produced humans are fine just for the aimed practice. Again by the Times Magazine, a survey was conducted in which it was found that about fifty percent (50%) of the people who were questioned consider that the human clones should be considered as the lower beings in humans (Bereano, 1995).
In addition, they should not be provided with the equivalent rights as the impervious and unchanged humans have. In 1993, according to the MacLeans Magazine, if the technology was able to modify the imperfections and faults within their unborn children, then the people will not be indecisive in modifying the genes of the children in order for the children to be more normal and ideal (Forman, Silverstein, et al. 2012). The opinion to produce a humans own child, in this several people consider that the supreme the ...
