Globalization and technological advancement brought many challenges for Wal-mart. Wal-mart operate in a highly competitive and turbulent way, which turns the whole instant with breakneck speed, requiring business information system responsive to follow the pace of change. The search for competitiveness through cost reduction and earnings productivity is causing Wal-mart look for technological innovations that allow a competitive advantage to company over the competitors.

In this context, the use of new technologies has been considered vital to the survival of Wal-mart, especially the use of Information Technology (IT), which is already present in the day-to-day organizational activities, causing profound changes in throughout the Wal-mart that is changing the organizational structure, labor relations, the profile of the worker and culture of the organization. Among the various technologies that have impacted completion of work recently, the computer is that has attracted most attention, since their use is very widespread in many environments work and the breadth of its impact is very wide. Information technology is commonly assigned to activities involving processing information and communication through integrated electronic equipment (Wei, Baiyin, Gary, 2010). However, the successful implementation a new technology relies on an analysis of their impacts on power relations.

The impact of globalization and new technologies at Wal-mart has been a major focus of study of those surveyed in recent years due to its rapid spread in the business environment and large impact on society, which receives its influences.

In addition to this, the impact of globalization and new technologies on work performed in Wal-mart can be perceived such as changes in variables such as:

Content and nature of tasks;

Distribution and location of the workers;

Hours of journeys;

Interaction between the workers;

Number of workers;

Pressures and pace of work;

Skill required.

In relation to the effects of IT and globalization on Wal-mart, the information technology and globalization profoundly alters the relationship of the worker to his work. The major change occurs in the nature of the task, which formerly manual with direct contact and physical and now electronic abstract and through a system of information. Moreover, the globalization and new technology may cause impacts on the level of employment, stress and job satisfaction, besides demanding new skills of the worker (Shahid, Gunasekaran, 1999).
