New Voter Registration

Introduction

There are five types of voting technology: paper balloting, punch card balloting, lever balloting, optical scan balloting, and DRE balloting. The highest goal of new voter registration, according to Eric Fisher and Kevin Coleman, is to ensure, that only those people entitled to vote in a given jurisdiction can do so and that they each vote only once (Fisher and Coleman, 2006, p. 1).

The pivotal question in new voter registration though, is whether it is more important for all eligible voters to be able to vote, or whether it is more important to prohibit ineligible voters from voting; unfortunately, Help America Vote Act (HAVA) does not provide a clear answer that question. Registration has a history of being used by both parties and the states, to limit participation according to the whims of the majority. The purpose of my paper is to identify the purpose of these voters registration and the real purpose of these registrations. I also highlight my personal view about the new voter's registration. This essay is about the New Voters Registration.

Discussion

The right to vote is a right presented to the people as a means to communicate their answer for a question but the recent law, signed by the governor Rick Perry, has made this practice difficult and strenuous for the voter. I believe that the only thing required from the voter should be his belonging from the state he is voting and verification that he is of voting age, and it should not be complicated but easy for the vote caster. Voting is clearly required in elections. Nothing, more and nothing less.

It is the prime way to get the opinions of the voters voiced. If this process is made more complicated, many of the voters are cut down and these effects positively for the party in power but negatively for democracy as a whole. The republican rule of voting requires photo identification at the polling stations. On the other hand, the changes in the voting system have made it more complicated in the name of "preserving the integrity of the ballot box" but speculators say that these steps hardly have anything to do with fraud speculation and prevention but they only create more obstacles for voters who are poor, in minorities and for those who are voting for the first time. The new set of rules works more in favor of Republican party rather than the democratic party.

Governors Rick Perry and Scott Walker signed the laws in the May of 2011 that mentions it as a prerequisite for each voter to present a valid photograph identity to cast a vote. Sounds a simple? Not, quiet. The key question arises is where can you get a "valid photograph identity". You can obtain that photo ID by filling 3 different forms with identification. One of those forms requires you to bring a person with you to vouch for your identity. Now what is going to vouch for the identity of the person vouching ...
