Introduction of the Topic

The role of nonprofit organizations have been imperative in providing the volunteer services to the society, there are many organizations like Leukemia and Lymphoma Society that support the social causes and address the large health issues of society. Volunteering is a system of cooperation that takes place in the world for many years. Collaborate voluntarily for the proper development and functioning of political, social, economic, among others, is an important alternative form of participation. This research specifically focuses on the nonprofit organizations who work fighting the blood cancer (www.lls.org).

Problem and Importance

In several countries volunteer work has been regulated by laws and regulations establishing the commitment of both parties on a particular issue, for the purpose of enforcing what was agreed. Sometimes, when speaking of volunteering, one tends to think of an activity that requires commitment and time like a paid activity; however this is a mistake that many incurred (Hybels, 32). The importance of volunteering lies in the important role that has as an expression of citizen participation in cultural, political, economic and social community in general, therefore, the commitment that is responsible is the same as that applied to other activities.

Possible Causes

In this context, it is essential that people understand that committing to a voluntary activity does not mean a job half done or poorly done only because it is paid work, but instead, a work of these categories requires a greater commitment to goes beyond the material. Regarding social issues, at present, there are thousands of organizations that achieve their goals through volunteering, and which manage to achieve its objectives in terms of it. In this context, thanks to the people who are committed to carrying out work on a voluntary basis, is that in countries like Chile, has improved the quality of education, health and lives of many individuals (Jones, 5).

Institutions involved in the problem

The institutions involved are the nonprofit organizations. The non-profit organizations must recognize the importance of adopt good corporate governance as an element necessary for the proper institutional development and promotion of their social role for transparency and the recognition and trust the community in general. There is no single model of corporate governance can be applied to all nonprofit organizations. Each organization must define a particular governance structure for it to complete its mission and objectives of an effective, efficient, transparent and with integrity. The possible solution to the problem can be the creation of interest among the social groups to join these organizations and enhance their corporate governance.
