Overview of the topic

The case is related to the HR issue that is concerned with the hiring of an applicant. The HR director known as Laura Moscone had the tasks of hiring a sales representative for a desired position. The Sales Executive in any company has several important tasks to perform that matters a lot for any organization. The same case was there with this company. However, there were many applications received for this job. Though, the company had to perform one task before making the final decision to select an employee. The task was to screen the profile of employee on Social Media but this activity was covered under the Federal Law of the company. This information was useful in making the final decision to hire an employee. This is the reason why the service of a Research Staffer was utilized to perform this particular task. Though, he did not have any formal role in the hiring process of the company.

The task was finally performed by the Research Staffer after going through the Social Media Scan. The main social network sites in which the profiles of the employees screened were Facebook, LinkedIn, Google and many other sites. All these networking sites were very popular and had a lot of value as well in screening the profiles of the employees. The activity was useful in assessing the social profile of the employee. Though, an ethical issue arose during this process which would be discussed in detail in the later paragraphs. These are all the issues that form the main part of the research. The concept of Virtue Ethics would also be discussed in detail in the topic. Therefore, this is the overview of the entire issue.

Ethical Issue

The ethical issue was the main concern in this topic. There are reasons for this particular phenomenon that would be addressed in the upcoming paragraphs. During the hiring process, the employees were screened on the basis of their profiles mentioned on the social networking website. The name of the standard out applicant considered in the hiring process was Jack Friendly. The biggest reason because of which the Laura considered his name was due to his strong credentials in terms of the education and work experience. The Department Manager was also impressed with the credentials of the Jack Friendly. Though, one major problem occurred during this entire process in finalizing his decision for selection of the job. The ethical issue that would also be given another reference is the form of Virtue Ethics. The concept of the Virtue Ethics will be covered in detail in the upcoming paragraphs (John, 2008).

The social profile of the Jack Friendly revealed a lot of disturbing facts for the company. The biggest fact was the off work activity of the Jack Friendly.
