Virtual Workplace: Out of the Office Reply and Listening Skills
Question 2A
In the first part of the listening video which was between Pilar and Miguel one thing is pretty evident that the communication between these both people was not effective. Though Pilar on her part was trying to communicate her message to Miguel but due to distractions and non serious attitude of Miguel she wasn't able to get her message completely understood. Miguel since the very beginning of the communication was not showing interest in what Pilar had to say and was busy in checking his cell phone, twirling his pen etc which served as sources of distraction in the communication.
It could be seen that this behavior of Miguel changed dramatically in the second part of the video. When he came to know that he was no longer working on the project, as it was a demand put up by the clients because of his mistakes which were discussed in the first part of the video, Miguel at once changed his attitude. He started to listening Pilar more attentively and even started noting things in his note book so that he can remember it. He also started to take part in the conversion as Pilar was telling him how he could improve on his mistakes and can get the project back. The conversation between Miguel and Pilar can be compared to Angela and Ralph's communication in this way, that Angela and Ralph were having a smooth conversation. There wasn't any distraction in the conversation caused by these two people rather Ralph presented his views on which Angela agreed and vica versa. But this was completely different in the case of Miguel and Pilar where we can witness the communication wasn't effective in the first part but turned out to be successful in the second part.
