Summary

Because of the increase of violent events in many sporting tournaments, many experts have written several writing pieces regarding this problem. One of such articles is “Spectator violence at football matches: Towards a sociological explanation” written by Dunning, Murphy and William. The emphasize of this paper is to describe the current phenomenon known as “football hooliganism” and the resulting consequences. The paper mentions the statistics regarding the violent incidents over the time during football matches, the patterns of the individuals showing aggressive behavior and the possible reasons and causes for such behavior.
