Abstract

The culture of Vietnam is still unknown to majority of people who lives outside the country. Nowadays, people are making way to Vietnam for roaming and doing trade. It is becoming more interesting to come across with the profile of Vietnamese as they are considered to be the high social-context society of displaying excellent moral conduct. To display respect to their elders, more conventionally minded Vietnamese will bend over in front of them. Vietnamese are very polite, down to earth and stay away from talking about feelings. Vietnamese culture is inclined with position which is obtained with age and education rather with money. For them in ranking, education comes first followed by age and lastly money.

Introduction

Vietnam covers the eastern coastline of the Southeast Asian peninsula. The topography of state is diverse, comprises of hilly and wooded areas, and plain area moving downward from the rocky mounts to coastal plains and river deltas. Hanoi is the main city of Vietnam, located in the north, others are Da Nang in the middle of coastal area, and Saigon located to the south. In 2000, the populace of Vietnam state was of 78.5 million. Among them the majority populace reported for 87% and they were residing in the main cities of Vietnam. Other minority groups of different ethnicity, almost 8 million of them are spread over mountainous regions of the Vietnam. Its culture is very much multifaceted, due to the involvement of many groups and dynasties in the history of Vietnam.

History

Ancient studies of some anthropologist show that the history of Vietnam is a lengthy and interesting one. People have been living in Vietnam for more than a half million years back. They were the first East Asians who started farming in the region. Vietnam's identity has been formed after several disputes took place, both internally and with foreign armed forces as well. Chinese empires ruled Vietnam for almost 1000 years in 111 BC and instilled political culture, leaving a custom of avoiding the overseas profession. Vietnam got independence in 939 AD under the control of local dynasty. After 1471, the Vietnamese m marched progressively to southward, ultimately reaching towards the region of Mekong Delta, where they came across with previously settled groups of Cham and Cambodians. As regime of Vietnam's Le came to an end, two most strong families, the Trinh and Nguyen, fought civil wars in the 17th and 18th centuries. Revolution instigated in the Tay Son area of central Vietnam which overpowered both the Nguyen and the Trinh and united the nation by the end of the 18th century, but an existing member of the Nguyen Family defeated the peasant and established the Nguyen reign as Emperor Gia Long

Religion

Religion of Vietnam is strongly associated with its history and culture. The earliest established religions were Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism.
