Introduction

The history of the Vietnam War has taken on revived interest from the invasion of Iraq by the U.S. By certainly there are big differences between the two cases, but it is also true that the study of Indo-China war, miserably lost by the U.S, can help understand that the most effectual resistance produced in the framework of a social revolution. This paper discusses the concept presented in the two essays; 'The Vietnam War, 1964-1969: A Chinese Perspective' by Xiaoming Zhang and 'How We Lost the War' by Phillip B. Davidson.

The mistake of the superiority of nationalism has led to a harvest of the shortcomings and misfortune in the Vietnam War. U.S. joined the war in the sense that with a minimum military force added, would force North Vietnam to end southern aggression. We have underestimated the uncompromising attitude of Ho Chi Minh and his Politburo in the unification of Vietnam under the communist regime. Philip B. Davidson did not believe in this attack and that the Communists played attacking popularity during Tet, the traditional breaking the ceasefire. This was being a major mistake to underestimate the scale of the offense and the tenacity of the communists. The Tet offensive was a military campaign in 1968 by the combined forces of the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam (or Viet Cong) and the Vietnamese People's Army during the Vietnam War.
