Throughout the period of 1970s, the foremost crisis center for rape was instituted (Rohde, 1999). The treatment of rape victims and the preventative laws for them was questioned in the context of criminal justice system. In response of those questions, numerous laws regarding the protection of rape victims were passed in the courts. The rationale behind this research paper is to find out that how the perpetration of rape is derived and how the preventative laws against sexual violence can be helpful for these concerns.

May researchers uncovered the differences in the prevalence of rape on the basis of gender, age, and ethnicity/race, and also several other factors like whether the first rape of victims was as minor. Regardless of widespread public awareness, the criminal activity of rape and sexual assault remains a chiefly under-reported crime; and regardless of amplified levels of research over the preceding some decades, considerable gaps linger in comprehending rape victimization (NIJ special report, 2006). In this research paper, the research will be done to review various relevant research summaries on the risk factors underlying the sexual violence perpetration, the research methodologies for identifying such risk factors and the discussion and findings of the research for preventative laws and strategies of rape prevention.
