Welfare of veterans

In some countries, the concept of veteran is negative, and there is no any supportive environment for them. On the contrary, some countries are treating them as heroes and special benefits are given to them. This is because of their sacrifices in the time of difficulty. In the United States, the total number of veterans is more than 22 million. Out of them, females are just 10%. There are different programs like the healthcare, education, home loan, rehabilitation facilities and insurance policies (Vietnam Affairs, 2013). These services are given them under three programs namely Transition, Support, and Recognition

Transition

In the transition program, the main focus is on the transition back of veterans to civilian life. At the time of service, they are given trainings, healthcare and rehabilitation. This improves the personal development of soldiers which make them able to lead a smooth life in case of any misfortune at the time of war. After the service, they are offered lucrative pensions, healthcare and easily accessible healthcare for the injury and illness.

Support

The support programs are designed for the welfare of after service life. The widowers are also included in these programs. The veteran department works with the collaboration of other government departments and non-profit organizations to make ensure the facilities for the veterans.

Recognition

The veteran department takes help from media groups and local community to arrange different events. The purpose of these events is to raise awareness about the sacrifices of veterans and how they have benefited the country. Usually, these events are organized on the veteran day and during the veteran week.
