The Supreme Court of the United States is about to begin an examination of the Affordable Care Act, it is worth considering the fact that the number Americans do not benefit from health insurance reached a record level in 2010, the year of promulgation of the law. Nearly 50 million U.S. residents pay out of pocket medical expenses. The 2008 recession is not the only reason for this impressive figure.

The healthcare system of United States is sophisticated stable as compared to other industrialized countries. From the in-depth analysis of the information extracted from different sources it can be concluded that there are variety of basic healthcare services provided by the government of United States. The basic healthcare services of United States are diversified into wide range of classifications from which the individual residing in the society can be benefited. Nevertheless, the healthcare services of United States are considered as one of the most costly services in the world. This limits the provision of the services to only those who can afford them conveniently. The research also explores that there is a lack of healthcare services in the rural areas in United States and it is suggested to the government to research and design effective policies to counter this issue (Zuckerman, 2006).

Office of Statistics Center for Medicare and Medicaid programs has published an analysis of total health expenditure in the U.S, including not only historical data, and projected costs. It is noted that in 2006 was spent 2.1 trillion dollars, or 16% of GDP. These figures compared with 2004 increased by 6.7%.
