The US Health Care System

The US health care system has been going through a period of turmoil off late. It is reported that around 500 people are being killed daily due to errors made by physicians, infections and other accidents. These Statsitics are unhealthy for any health care system and due to calamities in the system, they are losing patients gradually and that is quite understandable. 500 deaths per day due to errors and accidents is a massive number and it represents a mayhem in the US health care system. Health care systems are their to facilitate the general public but if it ends up the other way round, then it signifies the fact that there is something terribly wrong. Currently, the US health care system is facing several problems such as inappropriate care, accidents and errors along with the ever increasing healthcare costs. Despite all the other problems, there is one problem, which if solved, could help to get rid of all the other problems in the health care system. The current system operates in a restricted market.

This means that the consumers do not really have any other alternatives while the insurance industry continues to maximize profits. Several people who are in favor of the system suggest that the free market system is the most effective. However, the current health care system is not operating in a free market. The consumers are stuck with their present employers and it is really difficult to change plans. As a result, the consumers are hesitant to convey their complaints regarding the insurance scheme (Baron, 1998).
