The McPerson and Elkins agreed about the ill-treatment that the Americans gave the blacks and Negros slaves. The society was agreed on their family split and was happy as long as their needs were being fulfilled. Northern region was less strict about the slavery and allowed freedom at one point unlinke the Southern region. Elkins believed that capitalism was the basis for the propagation of the slave trade whereas McPerson believed that capitalism brought the end to the slavery.
