Part (A) - Definitions and their relation to tourism

Tourist

A tourist is a person who leaves their hometown to visit different places/states/countries or areas for the purpose of relaxation, sightseeing, shopping, having fun, learning culture and history of other areas and returns to the hometown within 12 months.

In this activity, the tourist utilizes their savings and use a tourist guide to guide them to different places under the expenditure of money and time. Tourist activity is usually a reason for pleasure traveling rather than for business purposes where the tourist plans things in detail, reserves hotels, airplanes and trains, and perform the journey in the form of a circuit from one point to the next (Krajnovic, n.d). The tourist makes sure that their traveling plan is made accordingly keeping the interests and expenses in mind and ensuring that the journey proves to be a successful one.

Hospitality

Hospitality may be defined as the friendly and cordial welcome of the guests, tourists, visitors or strangers.

Hospitality defines the relationship between the host and the guest and how kind the host is to receive the guest upon arrival in case of the tourism industry. Tourism lays special importance on hospitality, and asks everyone involved being cordial and kind to the tourist. It ensures that the tourist enjoys a wonderful time when they visit a place other than their hometown. The hospitality industry has grown over time and personnel is trained and educated on how to deal with the tourists visiting the hotel, or reservation counters. Hospitality staff has to be courteous enough to the tourist in order to make sure that the tourist is delighted upon reaching the destination region and shall visit again. This helps the tourist in bringing about a satisfaction that they spent money in the right region ...
