Chapter 3: METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY
Overview of the Chapter
The third chapter is set out to explain the methodological process adopted in the study. The methodological processes of the study are designed for fulfilling the aim and objectives set out initially for the research. This chapter thoroughly discovers the underlying theories of the various constructs in the research methodology and explains the one utilised in this study. The main purpose of the chapter of methodology in studies or researches is to ensure a complete provision of the description or explanation of the steps involved in the research process. The illustration or description of the research steps to be followed is significantly important and integral in order to make the process of carrying out the dissertation more clear and understandable (Collis & Hussey, 2003).
Therefore, this section of the dissertation is set out to explain the most suitable methods amongst all for the current study. The research question for any study is considered to be the knowledge gap which is to be filled by answering the questions. Hence, the identification of problem and formulation of the research question is integrally related to the research method chosen for the study. This chapter significantly discusses and analyses the detailed steps involved in the conduction of the study which are justified in terms of providing answers to the research questions and filling the gap of knowledge in the problem statement.
Research Design
As noted by Collis and Hussey (2003, p.n.d), the research process is considered to be the scientific explanation and enquiry of the research questions or aspects. Because of the inherent aim of the methodological procedures to supply answers to the research questions, this process entails the systematic gathering of the information, the interpretation of the collected data for the purposes of analysing the themes and patterns. The analysis and interpretation in the research process are known to be the most important aspect, as they are regarded as the significant source of providing answers to the research questions or problem (Denscombe, 2010, p. 67). Hence, the procedures and designs of research methodologies are a systematic search for knowledge and information. Commonly, the research designs are aimed at collecting new information, generating new ideas for the research and to deal with the overt problems in the identified area of ...
