Attachment is related to the styles of parenting. It relates to the relationship between a child and parent. The main purpose of attachment is to make the child secure, safe and protected. The other styles of parenting are entertaining, teaching and disciplining. This paper will be discussing different styles of attachment. The paper also focuses on the childhood socialization with parents in the form of attachments (Crittenden, 2009).
Attachment is the relationship between the child and the caregiver where the child is provided with the primary care as a security to explore safety and comfort level. Attachment is divided into four types where three are organized and one is disorganized. The organized types are secure, avoidant and resistant. The type where the attachment lies depends on how and when the caregiver replies to the queries of the infant. With six months of age the infants start to develop their relation with the caregivers.
Types of Attachments
The attachment is secure when the quality of care giving is sensitive and loving. The attachment is insecure-avoidant when the quality of caregiver is insensitive and rejecting. The attachment is insecure-resistant when the insensitive and inconsistent. The attachment is insecure-disorganized when the quality of care giving is atypical. The latter is the disorganized type of attachment.
Secure attachment
The infant has a secure attachment with the caregiver when the infant reaches the caregiver first when feels distressed. The infant expects to get instant and easy comfort from the caregiver. The infant can easily get absorbed in play. The infant is responsive and curious to the environment.
Insecure/Anxious
This attachment comprises of children where they look for proximity and resisting contact. The infants feel insecure in giving directions to the environment. The children have prominent factors of fear and anxiety in their nature. The children, ...
