Type 2 Diabetes - what is it?

Type 2 diabetes is a disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia that is to say by too high a rate of glucose (sugar) in the blood. This disease usually occurs in adults advancing age and affects more obese or extra weight.

In a healthy individual, the blood glucose control is done by insulin, a hormone secreted by the pancreas. Insulin allows the entry of sugar into cells so that it is used as fuel, especially in muscles and liver. In a person with type 2 diabetes, ...
