Amy Tan in the story “Two Kinds”, explains the relationship between a mother and a daughter. Mother has set high aims and goals for the daughter and wants her to become famous one day. Tan has explained the two songs sung by Jing-Mei that is “Perfectly Contented and “Pleading Child”. The song “Pleading Child”, best represents the character of a mother, who has set high goals for her daughter, while the slower song “Perfectly Contended”, represents Jing-Mei.
