Introduction

Family therapy refers to family counseling also which involves a unit to remove individual or combined differences. This is a form of psychotherapy which deals with family systems and resolving their issues. It is leaned to scrutinize change system of interaction among the members of a family. This accentuates family relationships as vital factor in an individual's psychological health. Different institutions of family therapy commonly believes its importance in attaining better results no regardless of the nature of the issue. Families are encouraged to participate directly in these therapies no matter if the problem is individual or a does it involve the whole family unit. History tells tales of individuals or families being indulged in diverse problems. Be it any culture there have always been some influential personalities which counseled the family members either using their rituals as tools or using other procedures.

Family therapy is both scientific and systemic; it is a science of context, account and bonds. Every family unit evolves through its structure internally or externally undergoing certain developmental changes. This change demands alterations in the established rules of a family and the roles too which eventually result in structural change of operations. These changes at times occur due to conflict in approach among a family unit and at times it is influenced by the external factors. Often, this transformation introduces a new approach for which acceptance and rejection both lies on the family system exclusively. Matrimony, birth, schooling, beginning of youth, starting college or going to a job are all the milestones every family unit undergo ideally but losing job, accidents, demise, promotions, moving to a new city, divorce, or at times a teenage pregnancy, all these factors constitutes in marking affects on a family's journey. These issues may also result in an intense need of psychotherapy as an individual and for the whole family as well. The tools may vary but the requirement exists.

Structural Model of Family Intervention

The Structural Family Therapy addresses the problems within a family structure in order to evaluate the root cause of the problem.
