Upon reading this wonderful story, I was overcome with the most wonderful feeling. The story is thought-provoking and riveting to say the least and reaches deep into the soul of the reader. Although very simple in its narration, it leaves a very strong impression on the mind mainly because of the masterful and beautiful manner in which it covers the concept of aging and redemption. In our lives, we are trained to chase after the things that may not necessarily matter much to us in the end. These things include wealth, fame, and numerous other materialistic things.

This story is touching because it makes the reader realize the things that truly matter to us in the end are the love, affection, care, and companionship of those we care about. For example, in the story, even in his old age and severe health condition, Morrie is content with his life because he has someone to look after him and care for him. This is a very interesting thing since out of all the things that Morrie has possessed in his life, in the last days of his life, he is content with something as simple as the companionship of a dear student. This makes the reader stop and think about the beauty and unpredictability of life.
