Executive Summary

Being a research assistant at an organisation and reporting to the director finance about the Triple Bottom Line and its benefits. My responsibility is to carry out a research on the special projects required by the finance director. Triple bottom line measures the profits of the organisation and also measures the impact of the organisation on the people around, its finances and the planet. Companies are a responsibility of the stakeholders at first and then involve every one either directly or indirectly related to the company as well as the planet we live on. Talking about TBL reporting under the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) program it provides principles and guidelines for an organisation related to precise content indicators for preparation of sustainability report. These guidelines are not any coding neither give instructions for design of data nor any methodology for monitoring and verifying the sustainability reports.9

Introduction

Organisations struggle to tell their stories, to commune the good and the bad they had done in the market, society or for the environment. This challenge of telling the story of an organisation is not being fulfilled by current corporate reporting practices. In particular, criticism has been directed at the failure of annual reports or other regulatory filings to tell anything about a company's environmental and social performance. Human, Planet & Profit when the three components are balanced then the country is sustainable in the long run.

Given above is a three legged stool which is mostly used as a symbol for the triple bottom line growth sustainability. When these three legs of the stool are in the same fraction to each other, the stool is strong and the load is stable meaning it is sustainable (Gray & Milne, 2002, p. 01 - 08).

Discussion

On an international level, an economy reaches the level of sustainability when it produces optimally. This shows that the best use of the three factors of production that is labour, land and capital which sound more like human, planet and profit.
