Introduction

Sexual abuse is also referred to as the process of molestation in which one person abuses another person and imposes an undesired sexual behavior on the victim. If the person force is for a short duration or infrequent then it is usually referred to as sexual assault. Normally two individuals are involved in sexual abuse, but there have been cases where adults have sexually abused children.

Presenting problem

The present problem is to counsel the individual or client who has been sexually abused by another individual.

Possible issues of the problem

Sexual abuse can have negative effects on the personality of the individual. There has been adverse affects on the health condition of the client. The affects can be worse in cases, where individual or the victim was sexually abuses more than once. The sexually abused victim faces various problems in his personal and social life. The possible issues that may arise due to sexual abuse are given below (Sorenson, 1997)

Guilt

Sexual abuse can be very painful for the victim. The most awful feeling that the victim experiences are the feeling of guilt. Guilt is one of the most common emotions that are a result of sexual abuse. Guilt is one of the feelings that annoys and curse the victims at different stages during their lives. Many victims feel that they have been sexually abused because they have committed something wrong during their lives and this feeling irritates them a lot (Jaden, 2006)

Shame

Shame is defined as the painful feeling which comes from the emotion of guilt. When individuals are sexually abused, they develop the feeling of shame for their one. When the client got sexually abused he developed a dirty feeling about his personality and oneself. He blamed himself for the incident and the assault that has happened to him.
