Introduction

Afghan Muslims who come to live in Canada have to face a number of cultural clashes. This situation is not only found in Canada, but it is present in all the western countries of the world. The Muslim girls and women may face different kinds of violence not only in Canada but elsewhere in the world. This is often portrayed by the Western media with metaphors of forced veiling, honor killings and other kinds of violence committed by the male members of the family and their community members. It has been brought into the view of the world that Muslim men are aggressive in terms of their religious and cultural values and norms. They can even kill their most beloved ones if found convicted in the light of Islamic teachings. In various cases girls or women are killed by the Muslim men if they found them not properly dressed or against the teachings of their religion. According to culture of Canada veil is not allowed to worn by women but Islamic principles do not allow women to get out of their homes without veil. Although religion is used to justify violence but the violence based on Islamophobia, racism, poverty and various other factors are not properly addressed according to the Western philosophy. This paper attempts to show the sources of violence faced by the Afghan Muslim families in Canada on the basis of religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, race and immigration status. Muslims are treated in Canada like pre-Holocaust.
