Introduction

The SAMHSA was established in 1992, to improve the health status of persons with mental health and substance use disorders. The agency has different models to work on, from which two are discussed here (Kaufman, 1999).

Anticipated Programmatic Outcomes

ATRIUM (Addiction Recovery Integration Model) is a model that wants to bring psycho education, peer support, meditation, interpersonal skills training, creative spirituality, expression and community action jointly for maintaining survivors in healing and addressing from trauma (Kaufman, 1999).
