Improving Transportation System of the Country

Introduction

At present technology has taken a strong hold on everything. It has made people dependant on it and it seems rare that any part of the field is left behind. From operating business to domestic work, everything has evolved under the shade of technology. Today the UK government is strategising a scheme to improve the transport system in the country. New developments are being initiated so that the chaos that is being created by the transport system both on the economy and climate. Road accidents have increased, wildlife has become susceptive due to road building at countryside, and the cost of the congestion has burdened the economy of the country. In order to reduce these issues the government has been working on the strategy of Intelligent Transport System. The government has introduced the system in the country for enhanced and better management of transportation with reduces losses of lives due to accidents and better management and control of traffic on the field.

Discussion

The increase usage of transportation in UK alone has increased the percentage of Carbon dioxide emission that is affecting the climate of the country. The change in the climate has become a global challenge which every country is facing and is devising strategies to combat with the issue. Construction and building of new roads did little to solve the problem of transportation. Rather these roads and bridges have attracted more traffic that has resulted into more congestion on the roads. This in turn has increased the CO2 emission which has greatly affected the climate of the country (Friends of the earth (2010): 2). Technology that has given a new diversified dimension to the field of health, education, business and other eminent factions; it has set its foot in transportation with an aim to bring a positive and advance change in the respective field (Ezell (2010): 1).

Transportation and climate

Could there be anything better if the cars would fly and there would be no car on roads? Having no cars on roads no car on roads but rather they would fly like helicopters and planes in the air looks bizarre. But what could be a better way to enhance the transport system that would not affect the climate or the economy (Friends of the earth (2010): 4). Aviation too affects the climate and contributes to the major climate change. Its fuel alone is the major constituent of the carbon emission in the environment. The government of UK is working on a new project to enhance the transport system of the country (Friends of the earth (2010): 6).

Apart from climatic factor enhancement in the transportation system would help in sustain the economy level of the country. Even after so many technological developments made transportation is still confronting many issues (Roubik (2002): 1).
