Introduction

The fundamental aim of this report is to provide guidance to the board of directors of CTL in order to consider and implement best freight transport strategy. It would assist the company to develop an understanding about different alternatives of freight transport as the company does not have sufficient resource to acquire its own transport department in present. The report would include advantages and disadvantages of implementing various methods of transport. It would include the national and international policies that govern the running of freight transport system. The paper would aim to develop and effective and efficient freight transport strategy that is most suitable for the business of CTL.

The analysis of last ten years shows that the importance of supply chain management is increasingly increasing. It is becoming extremely important for organizations to have an effective supply chain in order to successfully survive and compete in the competitive environment. The major reasons of increasing importance given to the supply chain management is because it can allow organizations to have an smooth inflow and outflow of raw materials and final goods from one place to another. With the increase in globalization, organizations can save a lot of time and improvise the quality of goods and services. There are no barriers that exist in order to restrict the trade of organizations from one country to another. The major key in successfully implementing supply chain network is to develop and maintain close relationships with the suppliers (Zacharia et al, 2001, pp.2).

Discussion

The freight transport management takes into account the effective organization of freight transport along with the transfer station of intermodal freight management. It involves the management of employees that are directly or indirectly involved in the freight management process. It involves the management of roads and mediums of transport and services. It also involves the vehicles that are necessary to transport raw materials and final products from one place to another. It includes the monitoring and controlling system in order to ensure effective and efficient freight transport management (Bai, Ping, Shen, and Chen, 2012 pp.280).

The effectiveness in the management of freight transport shows the level of effectiveness in moving raw materials and goods from one place to one other. The successful implementation of freight transport management can deliver tremendous benefits for organizations like CTL. It can help to improve the transferring of stuff, speed of delivering stuff, service quality and cost of transport. It can be a source of achieving cost differentiation or broad differentiation. The effective management of fright transport can help the organization to save a lot of expenses that are incurred during the moving of goods from one place to another. The improvement in cost can allow the organization to improve its condition in the competitive market.
