Abstract

The training needs analysis is a very essential tool for determining the training needs of the individuals in an organization. It provides an assessment of the training needs that are required by the employees. The training needs analysis is very important for effective training and development which will in turn improve the performance of the organization as a whole. The training needs analysis is conducted at the employee level, departmental level and the organizational level. In the absence of the training needs analysis, the organization might miss the important areas that need training and focus on those areas that might not even require it. The proper training needs analysis enables the organization to better utilize its resources which will cause employee development, enhance their morale and improve the overall performance of the organization.

Introduction

The purpose of this paper is to determine that how the training needs analysis benefits the training of the employees which in turn benefits the organization as a whole by improving its performance. The effectiveness of training and development is depended on knowing the requirements of individuals, departments and the organization as a whole. Due to the availability of limited budgets and the need to have cost-effective solutions, different organizations need to make sure that the investments they have made in training are in the areas where there is a need for training and there is a guarantee of positive return on the investment made. An effective training need analysis play a very important role in the changing workplace in today's world because flexible working practices and new technologies are becoming common which causes the need to change the abilities and skills needed.

A very important prerequisite for effective training program is the analysis of the training needs. Training without analyzing might miss the important needs and might even focus on areas that do not require training. The proper training needs analysis causes organizations to utilize their resources in areas that will be result in employee development, enhance their morale and improve the performance of the organization.

The specialists alone cannot perform the task of analyzing the training needs. In today's workplace, the managers have the responsibility of people management which includes the training and development of the people under them. Therefore, in order to implement it successfully, it is very important for the managers to understand the training needs analysis.

An effective training needs analysis involves a systematic planning, coordination and analysis of the organization so that the organizational priorities are determined. It also avoids the duplication of efforts and the economies of scale are realized.
