Toyota Motor Corporation is one among largest automobile manufacturer in the world. The main area of its operation is manufacturing and sales of motor vehicles. Currently the company sells its automobiles on more than 170 countries and regions worldwide. Toyota Motor Corporation operates majorly in Japan, Europe, North America and Asia. Company is headquartered in Japan, Toyota City. At the end of March 31, 2012, there were 3225,905 employees employed in Toyota Motor Corporation.

At the end of the financial year 2012 (March 2012), company recorded revenue of JPY 18,583,653 million which are equal to $235,454.9 million during FY 2012. It is noted that the revenues recorded in FY 2012 is lower than FY 2011 and the decrease is 24.1% as compared with FY 2011. Profit recorded by the business was JPY 283,559 million (equal to $ 3,592.7 million) in FY 2012, which is decreased by 30.5% as compared with FY 2011 (Toyota Motor Corporation, 2013).

History

In 1937, Toyota Motor Company Limited (Toyota Motor) was established as a subsidiary of Toyota Automatic Loom Works, which was a manufacturer of industrial machinery related to weaving. In the preceding year, Toyota Motors began its operations at Koromo Plant which is currently known as Honsha Plant. In 1943, business merged with Chuo Spinning. It is noted that in the same time Aisin Seiki was formed by Toyota Motors, which was a manufacturer of parts of automobiles. Toyota launched its first small car during 1947, known as SA Model. In the preceding year, Toyota formed Nisshin Tsusho which is currently known as Toyota Tsusho. Toyota Motor also established its business units in USA named Toyota Motor Sales and in Brazil name Toyota DO Brazil during 1957 and 1958 respectively. Toyota motor entered in the field of industrial vehicle in the same year by launching forklift Model LA.

Toyota Motor established its business in Thailand with the name of Toyota Motor Thailand during 1962. Toyota Motor acquired Hino Motors and Daihatsu in 1966 and 1967 respectively.
