The Effects of Tourism and Structural Emergency

The impacts of tourism on the local level, have been studied and classified by different authors, in general can be seen in the economic, political, social, cultural and environmental (Appadurai, 2002, 16). The economic impacts can be classified into positive and negative, the former refers to foreign exchange earnings, employment generation, improving infrastructure, encouraging entrepreneurship, regional economic dynamics among the most significant negative impacts include the increase imports, labor market distortions, constraints on public investment, inadequate infrastructure, public services, inadequate housing, inflation, high land speculation and real estate.

In the socio-cultural impacts are seen in changes to population structure, changing the culture and traditional values, increased prostitution, insecurity, crime, drug trafficking, exclusion and marginalization, social stratification, with loss of position by the local population, the indigenous population often turns into servitude of the new owners of the land and the largest tourism companies, generational clash, the new generations to be employed in the tourism industry to perform other of traditional, ethnic conflicts and xenophobic, great contrasts between poverty and wealth (Baranowski, 2004, 56).

In short, it is important to carefully analyze the effects of tourism and its influence on the generation of new economic, social, political, and environmental space to determine if the products could be characterized as emerging development in its broader content.

Tourism to equate the mass movement of people who have existed throughout history as barbarians, which normally exert negative influences to the communities that are the subject of these invasions so it must be because of fear or at least review the terms in which these demonstrations are presented to avoid possible impacts contrary to the harmonious development of society.
