Second Normal Form

This form is only applicable under the circumstances when the table has a compound key. The purpose of achieving second normal form in a table is the removal of all the partial dependencies in the database. For the records possessing more than on compound key, it is compulsory to ensure that all the items inside the table are functionally dependant. Under some circumstance splitting of records might also be required for achieving the second normal form in the database.
