CMI Approach of Leading Teams



Executive Summary

This report addresses CMI's approach of performing management functions and leading teams within the organization. The objective of making this report is to present the holistic analysis of the management and leadership styles practiced by CMI, pointing out the loopholes, and suggesting ways to improve the grey areas of management and leadership pursued by the organisation. It includes a generic introduction of leadership followed by a brief overview of the company, the discussion which addresses the aspects of leadership and team dynamics in CMI's approach, CMI's approach to developing management skills, workplace conflict situations that CMI should have considered when delivering their leadership development programs to organization, and a conclusion covering an overall assessment of CMI's leadership and management styles and ways in which they can be improved. The ultimate aim of this report is to provide useful and relevant information to its audience.

Acknowledgements

Writing this thesis has been very demanding, challenging and time-consuming, but also remarkable, informative and above all fun. Nevertheless, it feels great to have finally completed my bachelor's or master's thesis and I am now looking forward to a nice relaxing period for recovering. It has been both advantages and drawbacks with the limited amount of earlier research conducted within this area, even though I faced serious troubles but sometimes the advantages of this research luckily were in my favour and have made this research both challenging and interesting.

Introduction

The management team reflects a process in which one or more persons directly the structure and facilitate collaborative efforts of team members to ensure team effectiveness. According to J. Richard Hackman and his colleagues in 1986 and 2002, the team's effectiveness is characterized by the quantity, quality and timeliness of producers (e.g. product, service or decision), independent members to work together in the future, training and Wellness team members.
