17. Factors Promoting Higher Divorce Rates. Introduction I have chosen this topic because I wanted to explore the reasons that contribute to this menace and if precautions are taken or factors leading to it are understood, this menace can be controlled. According to a research around 40%-50% of first marriages end in divorce and 60% of second marriages face the same fate (Doherty, n.d, p.41). Divorce is an issue that is now common in every household. Whether a person belongs to a rich family or a poor one, the word divorce is used at least thrice a week in daily lives. It can be among the partners or it can be when two people are talking to each other about someone's incident of divorce. It is very common now and causes a lot of harm to the children and to the couple as well who is filing divorce. Discussion The divorce rates have risen sharply because females whose role previously was to stay at home and manage it are now managers at workplaces. Or we can say that they were more counting of husbands financially but now as they are at workplace earning a living if not happy with their marriage takes divorce from the husbands. Also, they interact at the workplace with different people and start admiring someone at workplace just because of some peculiar quality that he or she may possess, and her husband may not have that quality/characteristic, so if any quarrel arises between the married couple the one in love at work place files divorce and leaves the husband/wife to marry workplace boyfriend/girlfriend and even that marriage does not last long. Also at times husbands/wives at home are not there, they call in their lovers and have sex with their workplace boyfriend and if caught it leads to divorce straight away(Ackerman,1963). Some couples marry at very young ages, and they are not able to maintain a balance that is required at a marriage level, and they are not able to handle their partners well, as a result they separate and file divorce. You can also say that hasty marriage is a factor that promote higher divorce rates. Some partners are expecting too much from each other, or the expectations are unrealistic, and when one partner does not come up to that expectation, it causes hatred and grudges develop and continuously when this happens the ultimate solution to it sought by the couples by filing the divorce in the courts(Wolfers,2003). Some time due to lack of sex appeal in a partner or may be that a partner is no longer sexually attractive or appealing due to the same body and face, the couple part ways from each other. Or it may be like either male or the female is not satisfying the sexual need/desire of his/her partner that may be due to problems with the special organs that arouse sex appeal or any other factor not related to internal organs, leads to ...
