Introduction to the Novel

“To Kill a Mockingbird” not only was a novel that narrated the lives of people, but also that the novel provided the changes and the challenges that people experience over the passage of time. The novel not only symbolizes the problems and the situations that occurred between the black and white, but it also calls for how blacks survived the odds of how things changed and how people made their way to survive the pressures and the difficulties during their struggle.

The title of the novel revolves around the mockingbird, which narrates and describes the concept of innocence and the ways through which the readers are able to learn and understand the innocence of the bird and try to find innocence among the character. While the modern world has its benefits and positives associated with it, there are multiple places where a human soul becomes innocent, falling prey to the claws of societal trauma and distress (Hovet and Grace, 2001, pp.67).

Even though there were many instances where serious issues and topic that earn ample discussion and deliberation were the highlights of the novel, the utilization of humour and expressions left marks upon the reader, making them understand and bring to them the realization of how difficult it becomes for such people to survive the odds and make way to live in peace.

Keeping in consideration of the differences that are being experienced, issues and problems of rape and racial inequality have been discussed in depth. These days, with the changes and the challenges that rise with blacks and whites largely root from two major aspects: poverty and class.

To understand and comprehend the changes and the challenges that are associated with the problems and situations, poverty is an important aspect and a renowned feature of society. In the modern times of today, even the novel has prescribed and earned its reputation of being the symbol of modernity, it becomes evident that regardless of how modern our world become, poverty would be most outstanding.

Two main characters should victims of poverty: Walter and Bob. Bob summoned himself to the treachery, pain and misery that the claws of poverty that embedded into him. With the guilt and the psychological pressures and the lack of access to the fulfilment of basic necessities, he invests his energies into the futile habit of being drunk, accusing Atticus, the protagonist of the play, and ultimately falls on his own knife.

On the other hand, Walter displayed the changes and the challenges that came with the problems and the situations that was also a victim.
