Abstract
In this study we try to explore the concept of “The Environmental Impacts of East Midlands Airport on the Local Community” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on East Midlands Airport's environmental impacts on the local community, and its relation with aircraft noise. The research also analyzes many aspects of the environmental impacts of East Midlands Airport on the local community and tries to gauge its effect on the local community. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for the environmental impacts on the community and tries to describe the overall effect of the environmental impacts of east midlands airport on the local community.

The aviation industry is one of the largest global industries and is one of the biggest technological advancements that have allowed the world to move at the pace it does in the present day. Within the air travel and modern aircraft being built the world would possible not be where it is today.
It is also argued that, aviation is a significant part of any country's economic well being, providing people with the mode of transportation and making it possible for the goods to be carried around the globe. Along with the development and expansion of aviation industry, arrived the environmental concerns. For instance, the apprehension about the climate changes, alterations in the sound, air, and water quality.
Rising demand for air travel, connected with the roar in economical airlines, has backed the growth in tourism industry. However, environmental challenges such as climate change are forcing the aviation and tourism sectors to develop in a more sustainable manner. Transport, particularly air transport, plays a crucial role, since the travel components are responsible for the largest share of the climate change impact of tourism. (Hygge, 1996)
