How has migration in Europe since World War II destabilized the notion of the nation state?

In Europe after World War II had ended, a community consisting of the Jewish people was build from the people who had migrated into Europe. Once the mass slaughter of European civilians and especially by the Nazis during the World War II started many more people from these European civilians started moving to the British held state of Palestine or which is now known as Israel.

The requirements in the Potsdam pact were indicated by the conquering Western Associates and the Soviet Union in the year 1945 triggered the greatest movement of humans in Europe in the last period of a hundred years. An estimate of around 20 million relocated in this period out of which Germans were the most affected ones. The number of Germans affected went as high as 16.5 million who then moved westwards. Next on the list of the most affected people were the Poles who also went westwards. They then settled again into the Recovered Territories. Many were also excluded from their regions towards east and settled in the Soviet Union. The Jews who were in great numbers and still present in Europe eventually also moved out to Israel and some went to the US. (Ahonen & Pertti, 2003)

After the World War II some of the European countries were divided into small parts due to which people also started moving away from these countries after and during the World War II which had a great and negative impact on the idea of the nation state.

After the War ended these European nations started the rebuilding process and the conditions in these countries improved once more which fascinated the people to move in to Europe again. These nations welcomed these people as they were aware of the fact that these people will help them in the rebuilding process. Mostly the people who migrated into Europe were the countries which were under the development phase. These people migrated as the lifestyle in these European countries was much better compared to their own countries and they wanted to improve their own living standards.

Those Turkish who were brought to Germany as “guest workers” were to be noticed the most as they were the ones who fulfilled the countries needs for labor after the war was over. They were brought in as “guest workers” and never going to be given nationality. Due to this they were never considered to be the part of the German civilization and till date they haven't been included in it. Even those who were born in Germany don't possess the nationality. (Matthew, Gibney & Hansen, 2005)

These were the issues that were created due to the migration in Europe since the World War II that have seriously damaged the idea of nations and states.
