Introduction

The topic I chose for my work is "Life and Holiness by Thomas Merton," includes the two key elements of my research: Christian holiness and Thomas Merton. The "sanctity" is understood here as the reality expressed throughout the history of the Church following Christ, and that becomes concrete men and women in particular, serving as a reference to the People of God, and yeast human society. Thomas Merton (1915-1968), Arguably the most important Catholic author of the century, the Trappist monk Thomas Merton is best known for the autobiography of his youth and conversion, The Seven Storey Mountain, and for his numerous books on such diverse topics as Zen and Tibetan Buddhism, nuclear disarmament, Catholic meditation, and the Vietnam War. But he also wrote poetry prolifically throughout his career, tapping into the modernist aesthetic of such poets as Ezra Pound and Louis Zukovsky, while also engaging in the religious meditations of poets such as William Blake, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and Czeslaw Milosz. In this work I wanted to get closer to the general from the particular, and also discover how usually affects the experience of a particular Christian. I have tried to find the keys to their pursuit of holiness in the Church, and that these keys can make the announcement and proposal of the Christian ideal in a situation and a particular context.

The Reason for My Choice

My interest in the subject of holiness and understanding that religion plays a significant role in the life of human beings. Our being is actually in search of a supreme authority, a divine truth, a source of immeasurable power, and a center of hope.
