Defect of Two Type of Therapy

Defect of Two Type of Therapy

Research Objective

This study aims to find out that whether exercises are beneficial for cardiac and Osteoarthritis patients or not. Furthermore, what is the effect of two different types of therapies; these therapies are:

Standard land based endurance exercise

Pool based exercise

Research Question

The research question for this year's paper is: What is the effect of two different types of therapy (standard land based endurance exercise versus pool based exercise) on pain and fitness in patients with cardiac disease and osteoarthritis? Hypothesis

Ho: Standard land based endurance exercise is effective on the pain and fitness of the patients of cardiac disease and osteoarthritis

H1: Standard land based endurance exercise is not effective on the pain and fitness of the patients of cardiac disease and osteoarthritis

Ho: Pool based exercise is effective on the pain and fitness of the patients of cardiac disease and osteoarthritis

H1: Pool based exercise is not effective on the pain and fitness of the patients of cardiac disease and osteoarthritis

Variables

Group 1=land based therapy;

Group 2=water based therapy;

Age: in years

Height: in inches

Weight: in pounds

Gender: 1=male; 2=female

CardiacDx (cardiac diagnosis): 1=coronary artery bypass (CABG); 2=myocardial infarction (MI); 3=stent placement

2Dx (secondary diagnosis): 4=osteoarthritis

PrePain: Pain on the 10cm VAS prior to therapy

PostPain: Pain on the 10cm VAS after therapy

PreVO2: Max O2 Consumption Measured by a Max treadmill stress test prior to therapy

PostVO2: Max O2 Consumption Measured by a Max treadmill stress test after therapy

Dependent and Independent

Independent variable: Aerobic Therapy Two levels of the independent variable: Standard land based endurance exercise Pool based endurance exercise

Dependent Variables: Pain measured by the 10cm visual analog scale (VAS) Max O2 Consumption Measured by a Max treadmill stress test (MaxVO2)

From above table of descriptive statistics it is observed that the mean age in years is 71.83 and std.dev is 6.012 which indicate that variation in age group is present in data set.

The mean height in inches is 66.22 and std. dev is 3.703, it can be say that there is little bit variation present in the height of individuals. The mean weight in pounds is 160.33 and std.dev is 33.118 which show that a large amount of variation is present in the data set.

The mean of Pain on the 10cm VAS prior to therapy is 5.72 and std.dev is 1.074 which indicates that variation is present in data set. The mean of Pain on the 10cm VAS after therapy is 2.94 and std.dev is 1.056 which indicates that variation is present in data set. The mean of Max O2 Consumption Measured by a Max treadmill stress test prior to therapy is ...
