Introduction

Case study 1

Personal characteristics, attitudes and beliefs- in this case study Larry and Tonja both effected each others interaction, by the characteristics that they had in them, since Larry was more confident and Tonja got nervous easily, that even though Larry lacked many skills in his departments he got over it and while Tonja was well prepared for the meeting she got nervous and lacked confidence because of Larry.

Nonverbal communication- there was a lot of nonverbal communication going in this scene as we read. Since, they were constantly communicating with each other nonverbally, during the presentation. Larry gave many signals to Tonja during the whole process that made her confused and because of this communication; her nervousness was visible to the other during the presentation. He guided her through the whole presentation so she would not go against her campaign.

Workplace romances- agreeing with the fact that workplace romances should not exist because it disrupts both the mental and work conditions a person has to go through. That results in many problems as we saw that Tonja was not capable of representing her own campaign well. Even though the whole presentation was about presenting her campaign and going against Larry's.

Intimate relationship-Tonja shouldn't have let Larry read her report before the presentation because Larry took advantage of the intimate bonding that they both shared with each other and talked Tonja into editing her report, which was a downside for her performance at the work place.

Professional roles- Tonja did not give the desired presentation about the campaign just because of Larry which affected her professional role, while if she gave her best could lead her in promotion. She was standing in a tough position and got mixed up between her professional and personal life, she only had the choice to balance one out.

Ethical Dilemmas-the dilemma face by Tonja since Larry put their relationship forward when she was preparing for the presentation, even though Tonja was not willing to lie against her campaign. Her ethics were not letting present at work in a wrong way, since if anything went wrong at the work place she would be held responsible for it and even for the downfall of her company. Basically Larry is asking her to lie, which was against her ethical dilemmas and she didn't thing it was right.

Relational dialectics- it was because of Larry and his performance at the work place that created the relational dialectics, if he would have performed well at worked, anything that is said in Tonja's report wouldn't have affected Larry's position at work and wouldn't have to bring their relationship between the work environment.

Dialectic tension- since both Larry and Tonja were representing two opposing campaigns the tension was created and the conditions Larry put in front of Tonja, that he was indirectly saying that Tonja should prefer her relationship rather than work, which was not ethically right of him.

Defensive and supportive behaviors- by look at the behavior of Larry, ...
