Alma's representation of the differences between a leader and a manager are immensely valuable from the nursing point of view. However, one question that comes to mind is whether a manager could actually be effective until and unless he/she develops certain qualities of leadership? Moreover, can a manager actually make his/her subordinates work merely through the use of authority or is it necessary for a manager to have an idealistic personality for his/her followers to gain charisma?
